Hellboy and a rookie agent from the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) are sent on a mission to the Appalachians during the 1950s. Their destination is a remote community that has remained isolated from the outside world, nestled deep within the rugged mountains. This community is far from ordinary, as Hellboy and the young agent soon discover that it is dominated by witches. These witches hold a tight grip over the local inhabitants, manipulating them through fear and ancient magic.
